An aluminium ice tray with a lever, the design that was standard in every kitchen before plastic trays took over in the 1950s.
Fill it to the line, drop the divider in, set it level in the freezer, and when the water has frozen lift the lever: the grid cracks all 18 cubes free in a single movement. No twisting, no bending, no running the back of the tray under a hot tap.
Aluminium draws heat out of water faster than plastic or silicone, so the ice sets sooner, and the metal keeps the cubes solid longer once the tray is out on the worktop. It measures 11 inches long by 4 inches wide by 1.75 inches high and stacks, which suits a small freezer, a dorm fridge or a party. One tray supplied.
