A thick cotton pad that sits under the cover of an ironing board, or goes straight onto a worktop when you need a pressing surface and have no board to hand.
Cotton does two things here: it insulates whatever is underneath from the heat of the plate, and it stays breathable, so steam passes through the weave and the garment comes off the board dry rather than damp. The surface resists pilling, which is what keeps it smooth after months of pressing.
The extra thickness puts a proper layer between the hard board and your clothes, and it softens the ridges a worn board leaves in a shirt front. This size measures 108 x 40 cm (42.52 x 15.75 in) and fits most standard boards. One pad supplied.
