Each one squeezes open, slides onto the bottom bar of a standard plastic or velvet hanger and then moves along it, so you set the width to whatever you are hanging - adult slacks at one end of the range, baby leggings at the other. A strong spring holds silky and slippery fabric that would otherwise end up on the floor of the wardrobe by morning.
